Kurt Snibbe, an illustator at ESPN.com, has put in some solid work right here that fits what “Pretty Good” means to a tee. Updated team logos to reflect how NFL teams have started off the season. The mythological Norse subject in the Vikings logo has been replaced by the mythological visage of Brett Favre. Steve McNair was found dead Saturday on the sofa of a condo he rented in Nashville, the victim of an apparent murder-suicide. The body of a 20-year-old woman, Sahel Kazemi, was found on the floor near him with a single gunshot wound to her head. A pistol was found near her body.
McNair was a former league co-MVP, and three-time Pro-Bowler who was known for leading the Titans within a yard of forcing overtime in Super Bowl XXXIV, which they lost 23-16 to the St. Louis Rams. McNair was also a trailblazer, in that he helped tiny Alcorn State, a historically black college in rural Mississippi, become a college football hotbed during his illustrious career at the school, culminating in him finishing third in the 1994 Heisman race, behind Colorado running back Rashaan Salaam and Penn State running back Ki-Jana Carter.
He was the quintessential tough guy, beloved by his coaches and teammates for his heart, leadership abilities and competitive spirit. May he rest in peace.
