Alonzo Mourning Wants His Tapes Back Too
If you haven’t heard by now, LeBron reportedly got dunked on at his own camp by Xavier via Indiana guard Jordan Crawford and had any possible footage confiscated by one of his goons from Nike. This isn’t the first time or even the second time that LeBron has gotten dunked on in the last two months, but in light of this development, Alonzo Mourning would like all footage of the numerous times he’s been dunked on returned to his Nike rep as well.
Not knowing the guidelines for censorship, I’m sure ‘Zo was just as surprised as we were that Lebron was allowed to seize footage of himself receving an apparent Sprewell-esque ‘94 rip for what may add up to a measly four seconds of video. So give ‘Zo his tapes back too. He’s been dunked on infinitely more times than Lebron and he’s never pouted about it. He’s never hung his head while it was replayed repeatedly on the Jumbotron, SportsCenter, YouTube and Uncle Pete’s camera phone at the family barbecue. It simply boils down to ’Zo’s basic understanding that challenges and meeting those challenges is a part of the game of basketball.
Plus, you’re Lebron James, arguably the best basketball player in the world. You should have been able to channel your inner-manchild and turn on a 30-minute fury so devastating it would have lead to Crawford trying to confiscate the tapes himself. You could have done that, but no. The throne of ‘King James’ is pristine and fragile, so Nike chooses to handle it with the utmost care. Since playing defense on Lebron in the playoffs seemed almost prohibited at times, I wonder where the censorship will stop. Can you steal the ball from Lebron? Block his shot? Set a screen on him? I’m almost positive Nike has a protocol for this and would love to see it. I am sure all players who wear the Swoosh will be calling their respective reps to ask if they can send in their ‘Men In Black’ team to clean up any messes that may arise.
